Episode 18: Rosana Belheira

Rosana Belheira, Event Manager HUDS
In this episode, Edgar sits down to talk to Rosana Belkheira who is originally from Brazil. Rosana was born in Araxa, a small but famous town in the Minas Gerais state, in southeast of Brazil. In that same town lived Dona Beja who was a historical Brazilian personality recounted in novels and soap operas for her beauty and intelligence. Rosana did not live in Araxa, in fact she has no memories at all of the place she was born. Due to her father’s work, her family left Araxa when she was little, moving around quite often, to live and work in different places all over in Brazil. The same was true about her early years in school, moving from one town to another and sometimes having to start her academic year in one place and finish it in another. Eventually, the family settled down in Sao Paulo state where she finished high school and went to college to receive her degree at a private law school.
Rosana has two siblings, an older brother born in Santa Catarina State, in the south of Brazil, and a younger sister also born in Minas Gerais.
After she graduated from law school and before considering applying for jobs in the legal area, she was invited by her cousin to go on vacation to the US. She spent some time in Florida and New York but ended up staying in Boston where she found work and was able to support her mother and siblings in Brazil. She worked in a few different places around Boston, and in 2006 she started working for Sodexo at HLS. Sodexo left, and she stayed with the Restaurant Associates until they also left HLS, and she was hired to work for HUDS. In the past couple of years she received the position as Event Manager in the administrative side of the HUDS office.
Rosana is married and has two sons, Elias, 16yo and Zaki 11yo. She is happy with her work and everything she does at HLS and the opportunities she has had.
Some fun facts about Rosana:
-She loves being in nature.
-She loves animals, but especially dogs and horses.
-She loves to travel and immersing herself in different cultures.
