In this episode, Edgar sits down with Sarah Alkhanbeshi from the Legal Services Center. Edgar and Sarah discuss her family’s history with ties to Yemen and Ethiopia. Sarah was raised in the U.S. and learned more about her parent’s culture in adulthood.
Edgar learns about Sarah’s relationship with medicine and how she discovered she has a genetic mutation that runs in her family that increases her risk for breast cancer.
She talks about working as a medical assistant in NY prior to moving to Boston in 2022 and about her work for the Clinical and Pro Bono Office in Jamaica Plain. She explains how the places she worked before shaped her career and vision for the future and she offers a good advice at the end of our conversation.
