Episode 5: Arlenie Oglesby Part 2

Arlenie Oglesby, FSS

In the second part of Arlenie’s story she shares if she ended up traveling to Singapore or not. Her decision makes you think, as you listen to her narrative, if it was not meant to be.  She shares a story of how a former professor invited her to teach economics for 160 students. In 2007 she ended up meeting Danda, a US Marine, who would become her husband. She talks of her travels to Boston to study at the Harvard Extension School and how in one magical moment in 2019, Danda took her to visit the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and proposed. Lucky for them, there happened to be a stranger who watched them, took pictures, and recorded a small video. Arlenie is a Faculty Assistant at HLS and also pursuing her PhD at Georgetown.

The goal of this podcast is to introduce folks to HLS staff members from across the community. You may recognize the names of some guests, and if you don’t, that’s okay!  We hope that you will tune in to learn more about your colleagues—what their role is, what makes them tick, and why they do the work that they do at HLS.  If you’re interested in being a guest, please let us know—we would love to hear your story. Our stories bring us together; we come from different backgrounds and serve all different roles, but our shared community at HLS unites us. Let us hear your story!
