Alana Frederick

Alana Frederick serves as the career law clerk and chief of staff to Judge Kevin Newsom on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Alana also teaches and lectures regularly at various law schools, including Yale Law School, Stanford Law School, the University of Chicago Law School, and Harvard Law School. Her work has been published in the Harvard Law Review and the Yale Law Journal. She is an elected member of the American Law Institute.
Alana resides in Birmingham, Alabama, with her husband, Scott, and their two daughters, Evelyn and Kirklyn. She is deeply involved in her local community, where she currently serves on the boards of directors for the Junior League of Birmingham, the Nature Conservancy of Alabama, the Service Guild of Birmingham, and the Alabama Theatre. She is also an active member of the Rotary Club of Birmingham and the Birmingham Committee on Foreign Relations.
