Join the Harvard European Law Association for an address by the Irish European Union Commissioner, Mairead McGuinness. She will be joined by Professor Howell E. Jackson for a conversation on the EU-US relationship in sustainable and digital finance.

Mairead McGuinness is the European Union Commissioner for Financial services, financial stability and Capital Markets Union. She previously served as the First Vice-President of the European Parliament from 2017 to 2020. Ms McGuinness served as an Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for 16 years, between 2004-2020,making her Ireland’s longest serving MEP. While in the European Parliament Ms McGuinness sat on a range of committees, involving matters such as agriculture, public health, budgets, and the environment. Prior to joining the European Parliament Commissioner McGuinness was an award-winning journalist, broadcaster and commentator.

Howell E. Jackson is the James S. Reid, Jr., Professor of Law at Harvard Law School, where he specialises in financial regulation, consumer protection, international finance, and federal budget policy. He has served as consultant to the United States Treasury Department, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the United Nations Development Program.
