The Environmental Injustice of Natural Disasters
November 18, 2024
12:15 pm - 1:15 pm
WCC; 3018 Classroom
This lunch talk will focus on the impacts of natural disasters on vulnerable communities including children, communities of color, and low-income communities. In the wake of hurricane Helene and Milton in the southeast, scholars from the south east will join together to talk about how natural disasters are particularly devastating for children. With climate change making these storms more frequent and more intense, we will discuss what can be done to boost preparedness among vulnerable populations.
