In September 2021, Atlanta City Council approved the construction of a “public safety training campus.” Also known as Cop City, the proposed plan would raze more than 300 acres of the Weelaunee Forest and build the largest police training facility in the US. Movements have sprung up to halt the construction. In the face of ruthless and even fatal repression, these movements are an embodiment of the fight against police violence and environmental destruction.
Join us to discuss the history, reality, and opportunities to support the movements opposing the construction of Cop City. Speakers include Micah Herskind. Lunch will be served.
