The next session of the Spring 2024 Byse Workshop, Abolitionist Approaches to Criminal Justice: Perspectives and Debates, will take place on Thursday, February 29, at 3:45-5:15 PM, in Wasserstein Hall (WCC), Room 4059. Coffee and snacks will be provided.
In this session, we will examine various abolitionist proposals for policing—including incremental abolition of police departments, massive cutbacks of police budget and personnel, and disarming of police officers—and ask whether they would help create an overall safer society, both in the short term and in the long term. Please refer to this link for the workshop’s syllabus and reading materials.
This non-credit workshop is open to all members of the Harvard community, without any required registration. Attending all sessions is encouraged but not mandatory. No prior knowledge is required.
