The next session of the Spring 2024 Byse Workshop, Abolitionist Approaches to Criminal Justice: Perspectives and Debates, will take place on Thursday, February 15, at 3:45-5:15 PM, in Wasserstein Hall (WCC), Room 4059. Coffee and snacks will be provided.
In this session, Abolish Prisons! Wait, What?, we will discuss different visions held by central branches of the prison abolition movement. We will debate whether prison abolition should be perceived as a practical and realistic project, an ideal but unattainable goal, or neither, and ask whether we find various proposed alternatives to incarceration promising. Please refer to this link for the workshop’s syllabus and reading materials.
This non-credit workshop is open to all members of the Harvard community, without any required registration. Attending all sessions is encouraged but not mandatory. No prior knowledge is required.
