More than 18 months after Russia invaded Ukraine, reports of alleged atrocity crimes continue to mount. To prevent impunity and recurrence of mass atrocity, Ukrainian politicians, civil society, and survivors have called for justice, whether through domestic prosecutions, international trials, or other avenues. This panel brings together experts who have been working on the ground in Ukraine to document and investigate international crimes. Panelists will discuss what accountability means in this context and consider questions related to the role of various stakeholders, the importance of documenting different types of violations, the shrinking space for NGOs, and how to ensure a victim-centered approach.
