January 30, 2026

12:15 pm - 1:15 pm

Hauser Hall; 102 Malkin Classroom

After the Constitution of India came into force more than 75 years ago, our distinguished panel featuring Justice S. Muralidhar and Professor Sugata Bose will examine how its promise of social, economic and political justice has fared in the past decades, and how effectively it has checked majoritarian impulses and state power. Justice S. Muralidhar is a Senior Advocate before the Supreme Court of India, and has served as Chief Justice of the Odisha High Court as well as a Justice of the Delhi High Court and the Punjab & Haryana High Court. Professor Sugata Bose, an eminent historian of South Asia, is the Gardiner Professor of Oceanic History and Affairs at Harvard University. The session will be moderated by Arvind Abraham LL.M. ’20 and S.J.D. candidate.
Lunch will be served.
This event is co-organized by The Human Rights Program at Harvard Law School, The Harvard University Asia Center, and International Legal Studies at Harvard Law School.
