Join us for the 2026 Law & Faith Lecture by Prof. Molly Worthen entitled “How Charisma Made America: Politics, Religion, and the Crisis of Institutions.”‍

Molly Worthen is a professor of history at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where her research and teaching focuses on North American religious and intellectual history. She received her Ph.D. from Yale University. Her most recent book, Spellbound (2025), is a history of charisma as both a religious and a political concept from the Puritans to the Trump era. She has created audio and video courses for The Great Courses and Audible, and writes about religion, politics, and higher education for the New York Times, The Atlantic, and other publications.
