The WLA Domestic Policy Committee, Professor Julia Devanthéry, and students from the Housing Justice for Survivors Project invite you to Housing as the Key to Safety: Strengthening Eviction Defenses & Improving Access to Housing for Survivors of Gender-Based Violence. This presentation will examine how gender-based violence contributes to housing instability and highlight the speakers’ efforts to drive reform in Massachusetts through strategic advocacy rooted in direct services. Specifically, speakers will discuss litigation efforts in Massachusetts (including a case argued before the Massachusetts SJC), reforms to eviction defenses, and pathways for expanding federal housing protections to private and state-funded housing. Lunch will be provided.
