Harvard Defenders is excited to invite you to our annual Jack T. Litman Symposium. This year, we will be hosting an art featuring formerly and currently incarcerated artists:
- Mary Baxter: Creator of Consecration to Mary: Ain’t I a Woman? (a musical documentary of Mary’s experience giving birth while incarcerated) featured in MoMA, African American Museum of Philadelphia, Eastern State Penitentiary, and more.
- Mark Loughney: Creator of Pyrrhic Defeat: A Visual Study of Mass Incarceration (a collection of 800 individual portraits of incarcerated people) featured in New Yorker, NYTimes, MoMa, and more.
- Eric Anderson: Poet, returning community member, mentor, chef, father, human, Executive Director at Justice 4 Housing, and a lifetime student of restorative practices.
- Mollie Hosmer-Dillard: Arts educator that facilitates art classes for incarcerated youth and adults through the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, representing her students via pre-recorded videos.
This is a three-part event on Friday, March 1! In the morning, we will have an Art Gallery. Then, we will have an Artist Lunch Panel. Finally, each of the four artist will host their own unique workshop. Please see below for timings, locations, and workshop descriptions.
