On Thursday, February 1st at 6:15pm, Bryan Vorndran, Assistant Director for the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Cyber Division will discuss the work of the FBI’s Cyber Division in conversation with Alan Raul, HLS Lecturer on Law. All Harvard ID-holders are invited to join for this conversation.
During the one-hour program, Bryan will discuss the FBI’s Cyber strategy and more specifically, its strategy to combat ransomware. Bryan will also present two brief case studies. The first case will discuss the Russian Federation’s Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) use of malware named, Cyclops Blink, and how the FBI and its international and corporate partners disrupted this global threat.
The second case will discuss the Hive Ransomware gang and how the FBI ultimately disrupted the adversary’s infrastructure, communications, and operations – and shared defensive information with the private sector to protect potential victims. Bryan will also address new and ongoing Cybersecurity challenges confronting the Bureau and the country. Ample time will be available for audience questions.
