Hauser Hall; 101 Borenstein Meeting Room

In The Everyday Makers of International Law, Tommaso Soave combines ethnographic research and literary fiction to narrate the back-room practices of international courts. The story sheds light on the myriad activities of the experts who run the international judiciary (judges, arbitrators, agents, counsel, advisors, bureaucrats, academics, etc.), and reflects on their impact on the production of legal outcomes. Tommaso’s talk will focus on the promises and pitfalls of fiction writing as a critical device and as an engine for insight.
