Abstract: This Teaching Note provides guidance to instructors for the case study Project Merchandise: An Introduction to Private Equity. The case study, Project Merchandise: An Introduction to Private Equity, puts students in the role of a private equity firm considering the acquisition of a portfolio company, and later selling that same company. Along the way, the case study introduces private equity and valuation techniques, which students will need to apply in working through the case.
