If this is your first appointment with OPIA, please review our self-assessment materials and come prepared to talk about your interests and goals.

Whether it’s your first visit or your tenth, it’s helpful for your adviser to know a little bit about what you hope to discuss in the appointment. Use the note field when signing up for an appointment to indicate what you hope to cover and/or the types of positions you are seeking; issue areas, practice settings, and geographic preferences are all helpful to include.

You’ll upload your resume when scheduling an appointment so that your adviser has a sense of your background prior to your appointment. OPIA advisers do not provide resume edits in advising appointments; to receive edits on your resume, please submit a request for materials review. If you are making an appointment to discuss fellowships, you’ll upload any relevant fellowship application materials.

Depending on where you are in your search, you may also want to bring a list of organizations that interest you, places that you’ve already applied, and networking contacts you are considering approaching.
