The Center for Labor and a Just Economy (CLJE) at Harvard Law School and International Lawyers Assisting Workers (ILAW) are seeking research assistance on a project related to civic participation and workers’ rights.

CLJE and ILAW would like research memos identifying legal mechanisms that (i) facilitate workers’ voting, (ii) protect workers from employer political coercion/retaliation, and (iii) enable broader civic participation (e.g., running for office, holding office, jury duty, associative/consultative engagement), with any available evidence of impact, for the following countries:

  • Australia
  • Canada
  • Uruguay
  • Bolivia
  • Belgium
  • Norway
  • Sweden
  • Denmark

This project will be supervised by Prof. Sharon Block. If you have legal background/expertise in any of the above countries and are interested in working on a memo, please reach out to Yoorie Chang at ychang@law.harvard.edu.

Per the Harvard Graduate Student Union contract, research assistants with the Center for Labor and a Just Economy are paid an hourly rate of $21.00/hr. Alternatively, hours worked uncompensated may count towards pro bono requirements for HLS or admission to the Bar. Please indicate which arrangement you would prefer.
