Harvard Law School Professor Cass Sunstein ’78 is featured amongst the top three public intellectuals for 2008 in the Christmas/January issue of Prospect magazine. Sunstein earned the “bronze” placement on the list, along with Nudge co-author Richard Thaler.

“Authors of Nudge, this year’s most talked about policy tract, the buzzy duo brought behavioural economics and social psychology into the mainstream,” the article noted. “It was a simple idea, brilliantly packaged and communicated—unquestionably the most influential single idea of the year.”

Sunstein and Thaler join General David Petraeus, commander of the U.S. Central Command, and Nouriel Roubini, a professor of economics at NYU, at the top of the list. Sunstein and Samantha Power ’99 were also cited as an “intellectual power couple to watch.” HLS alumnus Barack Obama ’91 and former visiting professor Louis Moreno Ocampo, now head of the ICC, made the magazine’s “short list.”
