Robert Verchick ’89 has been appointed to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Policy, Economics and Innovation to serve as deputy associate administrator. He currently heads the Center for Environmental Law and Land Use at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law.
At the Office of Policy, Economics and Innovation, Verchick joins a staff of nearly 200 experts in the fields of regulation, policy, economics, and business. The office is the main policy branch of the EPA that manages the rule-making process, reviews final policies and oversees the testing of new approaches to environmental protection.
Prior to his appointment at Loyola University, Verchick taught on the law faculty at the University of Missouri-Kansas City for 11 years. After law school, he practiced environmental law at Riddell Williams P.S. in Seattle. He is the author or co-author of three books and has served on the board of the Center for Progressive Reform.
In addition to his J.D. from Harvard Law School, Verchick earned an A.B. from Stanford University.
