Harvard Law School Professor Randall Kennedy recently appeared on Public Radio International’s show “The Takeaway” to discuss the 14th Amendment in light of the current immigration debate.
During the conversation, Kennedy provides an account of the original purpose of the 14th amendment, along with the constitutional definition of citizenship. Responding to the proponents of reconsidering the 14th Amendment, Kennedy characterizes this as “a big mistake, a political ploy, that largely reflects anti-immigrant sentiments.”
Kennedy is the Michael R. Klein Professor of Law at Harvard Law School.
