Meg DeMarco, director of Student Affairs in the Harvard Law School Dean of Students Office, received the Suzanne L. Richardson Staff Appreciation Award during Class Day exercises on May 23. She was selected by the Class of 2012 for her work overseeing and supporting student organizations, journals, housing and the 1L Program. She also plans and manages Orientation, Commencement, as well as many other events for students.
In her introduction, Class Marshal Lina Jun praised DeMarco for having the foresight to consider all possibilities when planning student events.
In accepting the award, DeMarco described her work as a vocation and thanked the graduating class for allowing her to be part of their experience at HLS.
DeMarco received her bachelor’s degree in American Studies from Fordham University and went on to obtain her J.D. and LL.M. in International Business Transactions from Suffolk University Law School, where she served as president of the Student Bar Association.
She is the 17th recipient of the staff award and the eighth since the award was renamed for the late Suzanne Richardson, dean of students at HLS from 1993 to 2004. The award is given each year to a member of the staff who demonstrates commitment to the student experience and concern for students’ lives and work at HLS.
