President Barack H. Obama ’91 has nominated Marisa Lago ’82 as assistant secretary of the Treasury for international markets and development.

Lago has extensive experience in the realm of international financial services and securities regulation in both the private and public sectors. Most recently, she served as CEO and president of the Empire State Development Corp., New York’s principal economic development agency. Lago previously held the position of global head of compliance for Citigroup’s corporate and investment bank, and is the former head of the Office of International Affairs for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. She has worked extensively on development issues in both New York and Boston.
