Harvard Law School’s 9th annual student-run public interest auction today unveiled several of this year’s highlighted items: a seven-day Mediterranean cruise, an adventure trip, a baseball signed by Mickey Mantle, and a trip to Disney World. Items will be auctioned on Thursday, April 11.
“I’m proud to see so many first-year students stepping up to public service to make the world better,” said Law School Dean Robert Clark, who has staked bidding claims to a serenade by the Law School’s a cappella group. “They are truly furthering the school’s mission.”
The HLS public interest auction each year raises funds that support students pursuing unpaid public interest work during the summer.
Other popular items to be auctioned include signed Bush v. Gore briefs, poker night with Professor Elena Kagan, a Celtics game with Professor Alan Dershowitz, an ice cream social with Professor Martha Minow, and a tennis match with Professor Daniel Meltzer and Harvard University President Lawrence Summers. The event will raise approximately $130,000 to help support more than 200 students working in public interest law this summer. Silent auction bidding begins at 5:30 PM in Austin Hall, and the live auction starts at 7:30 PM in the Ames Courtroom.
