“The scheduled speakers represent a diverse array of experiences and views, and are sure to provide a lively forum for an exchange and discussion of ideas about the Democratic Party, upcoming elections, and the issues facing our country today,” said convention chair Ariel Neuman. “The goal is to foster a sense of purpose, community and engagement among young, politically-active Democrats who will be shaping the future of the party and the country.”
Speakers will include Gov. Edward Rendell of Pennsylvania, U.S. Reps. Harold Ford and Barney Frank; former Democratic National Committee chairman and co-chair of the Dean for President Campaign, Steve Grossman; former secretary of labor Robert Reich; and former Mass. Governor Michael Dukakis.
Friday’s events will begin with addresses by Ford and Grossman and will conclude with a cocktail reception with representatives of the presidential campaigns. Saturday will feature a panel discussion on the media and the 2004 presidential campaign; speeches by Rendell, Reich and Frank; and a panel discussion on running for office as a young democrat, moderated by Dukakis.
The convention is free and open to the public. For more information, please visit http://www.law.harvard.edu/students/orgs/hlsdems/.
