Last week, Harvard Law graduate Stuart Rabner was appointed attorney general of New Jersey by Governor Jon Corzine. Rabner is a member of the class of ’85.
A former federal prosecutor, Rabner has earned a reputation for successfully taking on corruption cases. Previously head of the criminal division at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in New Jersey, he has extensive experience dealing with complex criminal investigations and other sensitive issues, including post-9/11 law enforcement matters.
“Stuart’s an outstanding public servant and carries the weight of a bright New Jersey future on his shoulders,” said Corzine at a news conference announcing the appointment. “In the often clouded and failed ethical context of public life, Stuart Rabner sets a very high standard and promises a better day for New Jersey and the public’s confidence in government.”
Rabner joins two other Harvard Law alumni who currently serve as state attorneys general, Tom Miller of Iowa and Eliot Spitzer of New York. Other HLS grads to hold similar posts include U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and Solicitor General Paul D. Clement.
