Four scholars are joining, re-joining, or moving up the ranks to begin the 2025-2026 academic year.


Alex Whiting

Alex Whiting, who supervised prosecutions in the Office of the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Court and served as an assistant special counsel in the Special Counsel’s Office at the U.S. Department of Justice, returned to Harvard Law School as a professor of practice on July 1.

Kristen Eichensehr

Kristen Eichensehr, an expert in foreign relations, national security, cybersecurity, and international law joined the Harvard Law faculty as a professor of law on July 1. She served as the Samuel Williston Visiting Professor at Harvard Law School from 2024 to 2025.

Richard Re

Richard Re, a leading expert on constitutional law, federal courts, and criminal procedure, joined the Harvard Law faculty as a professor of law on July 1. He served as the Ropes and Gray Visiting Professor of Law at Harvard Law School from 2024 to 2025, during which time he received the Charles Fried Award.

Samantha Power

On June 1, Samantha Power ’99 returned to Harvard Kennedy School as the Anna Lindh Professor of the Practice of Global Leadership and Public Policy and to Harvard Law School as the William D. Zabel ’61 Professor of Practice in Human Rights. Power, who recently served in the Biden administration as the administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development, was most recently on the HKS and HLS faculty from 2017 to 2021.
