“Right now our country faces deep political divisions that raise a number of questions about the future of civil rights and civil liberties,” said Danice Woodley, chair of the conference. “Ultimately, we hope the conference will help us to devise strategies for preserving civil rights and liberties in a world with increasingly complicated social, economic, and private demands.”
