Luke Nikas, 3L, has been awarded the Professional Responsibility Award by the Northeast Region of the Association of Corporate Counsel. The award recognizes six Boston-area law students who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to ethics. Nikas was nominated for his clinical work at the Hale and Dorr Legal Services Center.

“Practicing at the Hale and Dorr clinic reminded me of why I came to law school,” Nikas said. “I was exposed to real clients with real problems, and my instructors gave me the tremendous responsibility of resolving these cases as the client and I saw fit. I am honored to receive an award recognizing my conduct while participating in such a worthwhile endeavor.”

The award will be presented at a ceremony on April 26 with a keynote address by the Honorable Herbert Wilkins, retired Chief Justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.

At the Legal Services Center, Nikas represented a for-profit company that focused on strengthening local communities through activities such as assisting with relief after Hurricane Katrina. The corporation was seeking non-profit status, and Nikas focused on the legal and ethical issues involved in the shift.
