The Law School’s Class Day program was held on Wednesday, May 29, on Holmes Field, in front of Langdell Library. This year’s Class Day speaker, author and legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin reflected on his time at the law school (see related story). Professor Benjamin I. Sachs, who was selected by the class of 2012 to receive the Sacks-Freund Teaching Award, delivered remarks at the ceremony, as did Isabel Lima, Office Manager at WilmerHale Legal Services, who was the recipient of the Suzanne L. Richardson Staff Appreciation Award.
Several students were recognized for their outstanding leadership, citizenship, compassion and dedication to their studies and the profession.
Harvard University’s 362nd Commencement was held Thursday, May 30. The Harvard Law School Class of 2013 marched from the Law School campus to Tercentenary Theater in Harvard Yard for a university-wide ceremony.
During Harvard Law School Commencement exercises, held in the afternoon in front of Langdell Library, Dean Martha Minow congratulated the more than 700 law school graduates in the Harvard Law School Class of 2013 on their many accomplishments.
Two graduating students—from the JD Class and the LL.M. Class—also spoke, sharing their insights on their time at HLS and offering advice to fellow graduates.
J.D. Speaker Josie Helen Duffy urged her classmates to “embrace the grey area,” and not only become lawyers, but “fighters, peacemakers, preachers and engineers.” Duffy reminded her classmates to help people on a daily basis, especially people that they might not expect to help.
LL.M. speaker Leonidas Stasis Theodosiou reflected on his law school experience.
