PSVF Fellow: Katie Mayopoulos (J.D. ’26)

Katie Mayopoulos will spend her fellowship year at the ACLU of Illinois in Chicago. As a fellow, she will help defend the civil and constitutional rights of Illinois residents affected by immigration enforcement actions. Specifically, she will develop and litigate cases involving unlawful federal immigration enforcement activities targeting both citizens and non-citizens, and support ACLU-IL’s statewide habeas project. She is grateful for the support of the Redstone Fellowship and the Colloton Fellowship for making it possible for her to pursue this work.

While at Harvard Law School, Katie served as an Executive Managing Editor of the Harvard Civil Right-Civil Liberties Law Review and Vice President of the Harvard Women’s Law Association. During her summers, she interned with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s Chicago District Office and the public interest law firm Miner, Barnhill & Galland. She also served as an extern for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the Illinois Attorney General’s Office through Harvard Law School’s clinical programs.  In 2018, Katie graduated summa cum laude from Middlebury College with a joint B.A. in Spanish and Sociology and is an elected member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Before law school, Katie worked for five years, first as a high school Spanish teacher with Teach For America in New Orleans and then as a paralegal and pro bono coordinator in Chicago with the National Immigrant Justice Center.
