Giovanna Garcia will serve as a Public Service Venture Fellow at the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) in Brussels, Belgium. As a member of FIDH’s Americas team, she will support litigation efforts before domestic, regional, and international bodies to combat impunity for human
rights abuses across the Western Hemisphere.
At Harvard Law School, Giovanna was Co-President of HLS Advocates for Human Rights and a Research Affiliate with the Program on Law and Society in the Muslim World. She spent three semesters as a student attorney in the International Human Rights Clinic, where she advocated on behalf of Roma communities affected by lead poisoning in UN-managed displacement camps in Kosovo. She also worked in the Immigration and Refugee Advocacy Clinic, assisting with asylum cases involving descendants of the Mayan Genocide.
Giovanna has held internships with the U.S. Department of State’s Office of the Legal Adviser and with Fenix Humanitarian Legal Aid in Lesvos, Greece.
She earned her B.S. in International Affairs and Political Science, with a minor in Latin American and Caribbean Studies, from Florida State University in 2021.
