The Winter Term International Travel Grant Program provides funding to Harvard Law School J.D. and LL.M. students to pursue independent clinical or research/writing projects abroad during Winter Term.
HLS J.D. and LL.M. students may apply to participate in a two-credit independent clinical during Winter Term, which involves working 40 hours per week under the supervision of an on-site attorney and in coordination with an HLS faculty sponsor.
To be eligible for credit, Winter Term projects must meet HLS’ criteria for an independent clinical placement. For more information, please see the Office of Clinical and Pro Bono Program’s web page about Independent Clinicals, and watch a video with advice from OCP’s Jill Crockett.
HLS J.D. and LL.M. students may register for the Winter Term Writing Program and devote Winter Term to intensive, independent research and writing under the supervision of an HLS faculty member.
Please see the Winter Term Writing Program information (under “Additional Academic Opportunities (J.D. and Graduate Program”) in the HLS Handbook of Academic Policies for more information, including specifics regarding credits, and read advice on developing a Winter Term research/writing project (PDF) and preparing to write (PDF).
Please be sure to read this Winter Term International Travel Grant information and the application instructions carefully before completing the application.
