Sagnik Das is an S.J.D. (Doctor of Juridical Science) candidate at Harvard Law School and an Edmond J. Safra Graduate Fellow in Ethics at the Safra Center for Ethics, Harvard University. His research focuses on the intellectual history of human rights discourse in the post–Cold War era, with particular attention to the role of international lawyers. He examines the intersections between human rights, the laws of armed conflict, and international economic law, emphasizing the contingency of legal developments and the potential for alternative, more egalitarian legal pathways.

His broader research and teaching interests include public international law, international legal history, and comparative constitutional law. He has taught international law at a law school in India and courses in the History and General Education departments at Harvard College. Prior to his doctoral studies, he worked in the international arbitration practice of a law firm in Paris and in the capital markets practice of a law firm in India. He also clerked at the High Court of Delhi.

Das earned his LL.M. from Harvard Law School in 2019 as an Inlaks Scholar and holds a law degree from National Law University, Jodhpur, India. He is qualified to practice law in India.
