In 2015, Utah’s Republican-controlled legislature passed the “Utah Compromise” with an overwhelming majority, banning discrimination on sexual orientation or gender identity in housing and employment while simultaneously codifying religious protections. This panel, moderated by Martha Minow, brings together both sides of the compromise with Troy Williams, executive director of Equality Utah, Utah’s leading LGBTQ civil rights organization, and Alexander Dushku, general counsel for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
