12:20 pm - 1:20 pm
Langdell Hall; 272 Kirkland and Ellis Classroom - South
What can Frederick Douglass teach us about constitutional interpretation? Join Bradley Rebeiro (BYU Law) and Professor John Stauffer (Harvard University) for a conversation on Douglass’s constitutional thought and its relationship to the history and development of originalism. The discussion will explore Douglass’s approach to the Constitution and consider what nineteenth-century debates over constitutional meaning can contribute to contemporary conversations about originalist interpretation. Lunch will be served.
