Federal Data Under Review: Changes, Implications, and Opportunities

Federal data are more than just statistics. They determine which communities are visible, which disparities can be documented, and what evidence is available to researchers, advocates, and courts. As the federal government changes how it collects and reports information on race and ethnicity, sexual orientation and gender identity, climate, and other issues, those changes could have far-reaching consequences. This session will explain what is happening, why it matters, and how lawyers and advocates can respond through public comments, litigation, and other forms of engagement. 

Meghan is a policy strategist with over 15 years of experience working to make change on issues like data policy, economic justice, and LGBTQ rights.  Meghan worked as Policy Director at the National LGBTQ Task Force and served in the Biden Administration in senior data policy roles at the Census Bureau, Department of Commerce, and White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
