Clinical Student Workshop on Trauma-Informed Lawyering

October 28, 2024

11:30 am - 1:00 pm

WCC; 3019 Classroom

You are invited to a workshop for clinic students (past and present) on how best to represent clients who have experienced trauma and how to practice trauma-informed lawyering.  The session will explore how experiences of trauma (both individual and systemic) impact clients, how trauma responses impact clients’ interactions with legal systems and the attorney-client relationship, and how to integrate trauma-informed approaches into your advocacy for clients. This workshop will feature presentations by a mental health professional and lawyers experienced in trauma-informed lawyering and will allow students opportunities to workshop real-life examples to build their lawyering skills. Students will be invited to provide their feedback about the workshop at the conclusion of the session.

Organized by Dana Montalto from the Veterans Law and Disability Law Clinic, Jonathan Card from the Health Law and Policy Clinic, and Sabi Ardalan from the Harvard Immigration and Refugee Clinic.
