November 12, 2025

Harvard Faculty Club

20 Quincy Street
Cambridge, MA 02138

Since the Cambridge Analytica controversy in 2018, African governments have increasingly sought to regulate Big Tech. The adoption of new legislative frameworks and the creation of enforcement agencies have spurred significant judicial and policy activity aimed at strengthening oversight of digital advertising, data protection, and platform accountability. Nigeria has been particularly assertive in this regard, most recently reaching a landmark settlement with Meta.

Join us for the remarks of, and an engaging conversation with, Mr. Babatunde Irukera, Esq., lawyer and former Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria’s Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) who launched the investigation into Meta’s data practices—culminating in the first negotiated Big Tech privacy resolution in Africa.

Lunch will be served. Space is limited and registration is required. Register here. Inquiries should be addressed to csase@law.harvard.edu.
