Behind the Scene at Trial: Reflections on the Tesla Securities Trial

Quinn Emanuel represented Elon Musk and Tesla in the

trial. The trial stemmed from Elon Musk’s August 2018
tweet that he was “considering taking Tesla private at
$420. Funding secured.” Despite the Court’s ruling at
summary judgment that Mr. Musk’s tweet was false and
made with reckless disregard, a 9-member federal jury
in the Northern District of California reached a
unanimous decision that Elon Musk and Tesla were not
liable for securities fraud.
