The 2025-26 NBA season marks Woodie Dixon’s first as Chief Legal Officer with Golden State. Reporting to President & COO Brandon Schneider, Woodie leads the organization’s business and legal affairs team, offering strategic and business-focused legal insights and guidance to internal stakeholders for the Golden State Warriors, Golden State Valkyries, Santa Cruz Warriors, Golden State Entertainment, Thrive City and Chase Center. He oversees all business legal matters including commercial and business contract drafting and negotiation, litigation matters, real estate portfolios, corporate governance and strategic initiatives.

Woodie joins Golden State following five years as Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary of Chegg, Inc., where he oversaw all legal, compliance, government affairs and stock administration matters. During his tenure with Chegg, Woodie rebuilt the company’s legal team, expanded Chegg’s international and regulatory operations, created government affairs and compliance functions and oversaw legal teams on three continents.

Prior to joining Chegg, Woodie served as the General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Business Affairs for the Pac-12 Conference from 2010-2020. At the Pac-12, Woodie handled all legal affairs and business administration, in addition to oversight of human resources and football operations. From 2004-10, Woodie served as General Counsel for the Kansas City Chiefs, where he oversaw legal, compliance, human resources and the salary cap. Prior to that, Woodie worked for the National Football League, Sidley & Austin LLP and Dorsey & Whitney, handling a myriad of corporate legal matters.

Woodie obtained his J.D. from Harvard Law School, an MS in Sport Management from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and a BA in History from Amherst College. He currently serves as a member of the Sports Lawyers Association Board, Fritz Pollard Alliance Board, and the Arizona State University Sports Law and Business Advisory Board.
