Jade Newburn J.D. ’04

Jade Newburn serves as the Head of Transactions and Managing Director for U.S. Real Estate at The Carlyle Group. Since joining Carlyle in 2020, Jade has led the strategy and implementation of transactions, overseen disputes and litigation, managed risk, and spearheaded various high-priority initiatives.

Before Carlyle, Jade was a Partner at Mayer Brown LLP, where he led the U.S. Real Estate practice in the Chicago office from 2004 to 2020. In this role, he represented real estate private equity funds, REITs, pension funds, developers, and investors in national transactions. Jade began his career as an Associate at McKinsey & Company, working as a strategy consultant in the energy, insurance, retail, and performing arts sectors from 1999 to 2001.

Recognized for his expertise, Jade has been a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers since 2017. He has also served on the Auxiliary Board of the Art Institute of Chicago from 2008 to 2017 and was a British Marshall Scholar in 1997.

Jade holds a J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School, a B.A. in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from Balliol College, University of Oxford, and an A.B. in Economics and Organizational Behavior and Management, magna cum laude, from Brown University.
