Arnaaz Nizami Ameer

She/her
Arnaaz is a second-year S.J.D. candidate from India. She loves to write poetry and fiction, perform at open mics across Cambridge, host dinners for friends, learn new languages, and collect tea and coffee from around the world. She researches and writes on the laws of war and the intersection of international law and private law on remedies. Before HLS, she lived across Delhi, Beijing, and Geneva, working at international organizations and in non-profit advocacy, consulting, and government. Reach out to Arnaaz if you want to discuss creative writing projects, share new recipes, or talk about the fate of the world and our place in it while sampling her tea/coffee collection!

Toibat Ayankunbi

Toibat is a second-year law student at Harvard Law School. She graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Rutgers University in 2022 with a B.A. in Political Science and Economics. Before law school, Toibat worked in entertainment law at Condé Nast and Her legal interests include copyright and trademark litigation, white collar investigations, and data privacy. In her spare time, Toibat enjoys listening to podcasts on long bike rides and trying new foods.

Growing up five miles from the United States-Mexico border in El Paso, TX, I learned the importance of building bridges. Prior to attending law school, I worked to bridge resource divides in low-income communities as an Economic Development Specialist at the U.S. Department of Commerce. At HLS, I serve as VP of External Affairs for the Texas Club and as Executive Editor for the Latin American Law Review.

Ben Haward

Ben is a 2L in the JD/MPH program interested in all things health law. Prior to law school he studied Psychology at McGill University in Montreal and worked as a research coordinator in a public health lab studying vaccine hesitancy and cancer screening uptake. Outside of school, you will find Ben playing soccer, reading, and finding Boston’s best coffee spots!

Brandon Jacobs

Brandon is a 2L from Windham, New Hampshire. A first-generation college student, he graduated from the George Washington University in 2022 with a B.A. in Political Science. Prior to law school, he worked in D.C. as a political advisor to a member of Congress. At HLS, Brandon is an Executive Articles Editor for the Journal on Legislation, and serves as a J.D. Admissions Fellow. In his 1L year, he served as Treasurer of the Section 5 Social Committee, and was involved with the student government’s community service committee. In his free time, Brandon loves solving The New York Times crossword puzzle, baking, and watching movies.

Iqra Saleem Khan

Iqra is a fourth-year S.J.D. Candidate from Pakistan. She loves coffee (pictured), lifting weights, painting, and baking. Her research interests include Family Law, Gender and the Law, and International Human Rights. In the Summer of 2024, she taught “Sexuality, Gender and the Law” at Northeastern University School of Law. She loves organizing events and get-togethers, so if you have ideas do let her know!

Alejandra Maldonado

Alejandra is a 3L from McAllen, Texas and was in Section 5. She loves to dance, check out new restaurants and bars, and spend quality time with her friends. Prior to law school, Alejandra worked as the assistant director and grant writer for an adult literacy nonprofit in Texas. Alejandra worked at Orleans Public Defenders during her 1L summer and at Kirkland & Ellis in Houston, Texas this past summer. Her legal interests include criminal law. Alejandra is so excited to be a RA in North Hall this year and looks forward to getting to know everyone! Don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything!

Ehime Ohue

Ehime is a second-year law student from South Carolina, but currently resides in Maryland. Before law school, she worked at a healthcare tech startup and at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP. She loves trying new restaurants and food, trying new activities, watching YouTube, and spending time with friends and her huge family. Her legal interests include (so far) entertainment law, entrepreneurship/business law, and general transactional law. At HLS, she is involved in BLSA, HALB, Harvard Defenders, and HALA. Her goal for this year is to explore the New England area more and she’s always open for food and activity recommendations! Ehime is excited to be part of crafting Hastings residents’ time at the law school!

Carson Sheumaker

Carson grew up right outside Nashville in Smyrna, Tennessee. He went to college at the University of Pennsylvania studying Business Economics and International Relations. After graduating, Carson went straight to law school. In his free time, Carson enjoys playing volleyball and his favorite board game, Catan. Reach out to Carson if you want to play.

Ciara Tisdale-Vakos

She/her
Ciara is a 3L from Virginia Beach, Virginia. She graduated from the University of Virginia in 2022 and came to HLS after her gap year. That year, Ciara worked as a clerk for the Virginia Beach General District Court in its criminal division. At HLS, Ciara is a student attorney with the Prison Legal Assistance Project, co-chair of the Women’s Law Association’s Clerkship Committee, and a fellow with the Youth Advocacy Fellows program. During her law school summers, Ciara interned with the Federal Public Defender in the Eastern District of Virginia and a firm. Ciara is interested in state and local government, criminal law, and youth advocacy. In her free time, Ciara loves reading fantasy novels, propagating plants, eating sweet treats, and sitting on the beach.

William Yee

William is a 2L from Northridge, California. Before law school, he worked on investment screening policies at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in Paris, France. He graduated from Columbia University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and East Asian Studies and received a master’s degree from the Paris Institute of Political Studies in International Governance and Diplomacy as the 2022 laureate of the Michel David-Weill Scholarship. He is interested in U.S. foreign relations in East Asia and international trade law. In his free time, he loves traveling, playing tennis and squash, watching stand-up comedy, and writing fiction.
