The Food Law & Policy Clinic (FLPC) at Harvard Law School is seeking a Research Assistant to support work on federal food donation tax incentive policy. The RA will assist with (1) research and drafting for an updated tax guide on the federal enhanced tax deduction that exists for food donation and (2) policy research examining options for expanding and strengthening the federal enhanced tax deduction for food donation.
The Research Assistant will conduct legal and policy research related to federal tax law, charitable giving, and food donation incentives; analyze statutory and regulatory frameworks; track relevant legislative and administrative developments; and help synthesize findings into clear, practitioner- and policymaker-facing materials. The position may also involve reviewing state-level tax incentives and related food waste diversion policies to inform the federal analysis.
This work will take place during the spring term. Hours are flexible and estimated at 5-10 hours per week. The RA will be paid at the standard HLS hourly rate.
