An independent clinical opportunity is available in the Legal Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston for the Fall 2024 semester.  Depending on the needs of the Legal Department and the student’s interests, general responsibilities are likely to include research, analysis and the preparation of written legal advice for various business units.  The student will likely be asked to work on matters arising out of the operation and development of payment systems as well as other fintech-related initiatives, including technical research into central bank digital currency systems.  There may also be some other discrete assignments on other legal topics during the semester.

This placement will preferably be for 3 credits (meaning 12 hours of work per week during the semester), though a 2 credit placement (8 hours per week) may be possible.  Professor Tarullo will be the faculty supervisor. Once a student is selected by the Federal Reserve Bank, the student will be required to submit an independent clinical application. Please consult: https://hls.harvard.edu/clinics/independent-clinical.

Students should submit a resume and cover letter to Dana Pierce, Director of Externships, at dpierce@law.harvard.edu by August 1, 2024.  Applications will be sent to the Federal Reserve Bank for their review and selection.

The independent clinical fall deadline is August 19, 2024. Questions may be directed to clinical@law.harvard.edu.

(This opportunity is not eligible to students on F-1 visas)
