Still looking for a 1L summer job? In addition, to checking the CSM job bank regularly, check out LinkedIn Jobs for a variety of positions, including in-house legal internships. Search for phrases like “legal intern,” see what positions show up, and apply as directed.

In group advising sessions, many 1L have been asking questions about clerkships, including the timeline for applications and what are good summer jobs if interested in clerking. Find the answers to these questions and more in our Introduction to Judicial Clerkships webinar.

With December 1 around the corner, we will continually be adding job postings to the CSM job bank. You will find numerous job postings for 1L summer jobs in the private sector, and starting on December 1, you can begin applying for these opportunities.

Over the next few months, many firms will host events for 1Ls. These events can be viewed as your first step in EIP preparation. Use the events to learn more about the firms, their attorneys, and their work- information that can be used later in interviews to discuss your interest in a particular firm.

Every year, many students consult the employment evaluations submitted by their peers to research for their 1L job search and prepare for EIP bidding, callbacks, and offers. We ask that you please pay it forward to the 1L class by completing the Summer Employment Evaluation of your 2021 private sector summer work experience.

An additional useful resource right now is the Timeline for the 1L Job Search which provides guidance on what you should be doing from now through the spring semester. It is an easy-to-follow timetable to keep you paced in your exploration and search for summer employment.
