The VII Brazil Legal Symposium, hosted by the Harvard Law School Brazilian Studies Association, will take place on April 9–11, 2026, bringing together leading practitioners, academics, judges, and policymakers from Brazil, the United States, and beyond. Building on six previous editions, this year’s Symposium explores cutting-edge issues at the intersection of corporate law, insolvency, arbitration, financial regulation, capital markets, international development, and human rights, all through a comparative Brazil–U.S. and Latin America–global lens.
Founded in 2018, the Harvard Law School Brazilian Studies Association fosters collaboration among students, scholars, and professionals to discuss global legal challenges with insights from the Brazilian perspective, while highlighting Brazil’s rich legal culture and expertise. The 2026 Symposium continues this mission with panels on topics such as the Delaware corporate law reforms and their implications for Brazil, cross-border insolvency and arbitration, the role of multilateral institutions in Latin American development, M&A and distressed assets in the region, innovation in financial and capital markets regulation, and the evolving landscape of corporate investigations in the AI era. The program also features a timely discussion on the 20-year legacy of the Maria da Penha Law and the future of women’s rights in Brazil.
