The Harvard European Law Association is pleased to host a lunch talk on Thursday, April 9, from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. in Hauser 104 – Lumbard Classroom on “The Rule of Law in the European Union with Judge Damjan Kukovec and Eva Kukovec“.
Damjan Kukovec is a Judge at the General Court of the European Union. He holds a law degree from the University of Ljubljana, an LL.M. and a SJD from HLS.
He began his career as a judicial trainee at the Court of Appeal in Ljubljana (2002–2004), then worked in 2004 at the Special Court for Sierra Leone and the Constitutional Court of Slovenia. He joined the Court of Justice of the European Union in 2005 and served in the Legal Service of the European Commission from 2006 to 2018. He has taught, among others, at the EUI, Florence, at UCL London, Harvard Law School, Groningen Law School and FGV Rio de Janeiro.
He is a professor at University College London and City Law School (University of London), and an affiliated fellow at Harvard University. He has published extensively in EU law and is a regular guest lecturer at universities worldwide.
Judge Kukovec will be joined by Eva Kukovec, LLM 05, who currently works at the European Commission, on the regulation of the internal market, specifically tobacco regulation.
Students will have the opportunity to also talk about career opportunities in the European Union, especially at the Court of Justice of the European Union, at the European Commission and at universities in Europe.
Lunch from DIG INN will be provided.
