The Harvard European Law Association is pleased to host a lunch talk on Friday, April 17, from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. in Hauser Hall 104 on “Powering the Region: How Energy Projects Shape the Western Balkans“. The session will bring together leading practitioners shaping the region’s energy future for a conversation on investment, decarbonization, regional cooperation, and the evolving geopolitical landscape. In the spirit of creating an authentic experience, we will also do our best to offer traditional food from the Western Balkans!

 

Panelists:

Jovana Rubežić
Jovana Rubežić is General Counsel at CWP Europe, where she has led the legal function for the past four years, advising on complex international matters across the renewable energy sector. Her work includes M&A transactions, project financing, EPC and major commercial contracts, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management. Prior to joining CWP Global, she practiced at a leading Serbian law firm with a focus on M&A. Jovana holds an LL.M. in International Economic Law from the University of Cambridge, where she graduated with First Class honors.

Vladimir Sabo
Vladimir Sabo is a renewable energy executive with more than 15 years of experience developing, delivering, and commercializing sustainable energy solutions across Southeast Europe. As Managing Director for Croatia and Slovenia at E.ON Energy Infrastructure Solutions, he leads large‑scale decarbonization, energy‑flexibility, and industrial infrastructure projects. His expertise spans renewable energy, cogeneration, battery storage, and innovative business models, with a strong record of turning complex regulatory and technical challenges into commercially viable outcomes. Vladimir brings deep knowledge of project finance, regulatory frameworks, and cross‑border collaboration in the CEE region, positioning E.ON as a key driver of the regional energy transition.

Luka Bjeković
Luka Bjeković is the Head of MK Energy and Director of Mergers and Acquisitions at MK Group, where he oversees group‑level M&A activities, leads the MK Energy Division, and manages the company’s strategic investments in the Slovenian market. Over more than a decade with MK Group, he has played a central role in structuring and executing major financial transactions in cooperation with domestic banks, international financial institutions, and strategic partners. Luka has contributed significantly to the development and realization of renewable energy projects across the region. He holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade.
